A strong environment for innovation, technology and sustainable industry is growing in Skövde. Here you will find ASSAR Industrial Innovation Arena - an open and dynamic meeting place where companies, researchers, students and entrepreneurs come together to shape the future of manufacturing.
ASSAR in Skövde serves as a powerful platform for collaboration and technology development, where new ideas can be tested, refined and grow into competitive solutions for industry. The focus is on smart production, innovation and sustainability.
Cooperation strengthens Skövde's role
Behind the arena are leading players such as Science Park Skövde, Volvo Group, Volvo Cars, Aurobay Sweden, the University of Skövde, IDC West Sweden AB and Skövde Municipality - a collaboration that strengthens Skövde's role as a center for Swedish industrial development.
Jenny Wetterlind and Gustaf Lexell at Science Park Skövde say that it is important to have many different types of industrial and technology companies involved in order for the business to be as successful as possible.
- The more people who meet and talk to each other through events, activities and conferences, the more likely it is that new collaborations will emerge. One example from a conference in Gothenburg shows how a person with an idea for sensors that can predict cardiac arrest was approached by a player in the automotive industry after being turned down by hospitals and pharmaceutical companies. "It's a good example of how collaborations can be born - and that's how we want it to be here," they say.

ASSAR as a bridge between students and industrial companies
Students in industry-related programs at University of Skövde often comes into contact with ASSAR in various projects and tasks.
- They can get lab time, participate in activities and showcase their theses here. It gives ambitious and talented students the opportunity to make contacts with companies," says Jenny Wetterlind.
Human-robot collaboration is one of ASSAR's current focus areas.
- Access to electricity, energy supply, residual flows and resource efficiency are important issues. "We are currently running a project where companies help each other to take care of waste products, and one agricultural company is working with another company using digital systems to reduce the use of pesticides," says Wetterlind.
Want to expand with more members
Companies that are members of Science Park Skövde and are located in their premises also have access to ASSAR's knowledge, networks, activities and growth programs. The ASSAR steering group is exploring more ways for start-ups in Skövde to become part of ASSAR to gain more members and to add value to the business.
- We have various forums and activities where members can gain knowledge and find collaborations with other companies. An important part of ASSAR's success is that companies dare to let their guard down and collaborate openly. You can't just come here and take - you also need to contribute with experience and knowledge," says Gustaf Lexell.
