Why Brenda chose to move to Skövde

Brenda lives in Skövde and is a site manager at Bahnhof Cowork in Skövde-Lidköping. She moved from Burundi in East Africa to Enköping at the age of eight and has always had a strong desire to explore the world and discover new cultures.

- I've always had a keen interest in different cultures and languages, so after high school I moved to London to study psychology at Birkbeck, University of London, says Brenda.

But during her time in London, the pandemic broke out and she had to re-evaluate her plans. Did she want to stay in London and live in isolation in a small flat, or move back to Sweden? The choice fell on Sweden, and on a new education at University of Skövde - where she would find both career opportunities and a community.

Living and working in Skövde

- For various reasons, it was not easy at first when I moved to Skövde. But during the last six months of my studies, I started working extra in several different places. I met many new people and started to see the city with new eyes.

After finishing her studies, Brenda moved back to Enköping again, where she started looking for jobs in Stockholm and Uppsala. But after a return visit to Skövde, everything changed.

- A friend nagged me to come and visit Skövde again, and once back I met several old friends who persuaded me to move back. I started looking for a job in Skövde, and through my contacts I was employed at Bahnhof Cowork Skövde-Lidköping.

In her role as Site Manager at Bahnhof, Brenda creates a pleasant and functional working environment for members and conference guests. Her working days are varied and filled with interactions with different people, which Brenda really enjoys.

- The best thing about my job are the members. They are inspiring, fun and come from many different industries and cultures. I learn something new every day and I'm never bored at work, she says with a big smile.

Today, Brenda is very happy with her life in Skövde. Staying in one place is a big step for Brenda, but it feels right.

- I meet so many different cultures and people here in Skövde. You have everything you need nearby, and if I want to visit a bigger city, Skövde is close to both Stockholm and Gothenburg. Billingehus has become a new favorite spot, and I look forward to hanging out on the new terrace.
