On November 25, the Orange Day, the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women. UNITED NATIONS calls on the whole world to raise awareness and demonstrate against violence against women and girls. Using the color orange, which symbolizes a brighter future, the campaign aims to create a world where women and girls can live free from violence and fear.
The municipality of Skövde marks its position and draws attention to Orange Day under the heading "A Skövde free from violence" throughout week 48.
- This week, we stand up for a society free from violence and put the spotlight on the issue. But that's not enough - this is something we all need to work on every day," says Jennifer Yanneli Dahlen, Child and Youth Strategist at Skövde Municipality.
During the week, lectures will be held for various target groups in the business community, students, school staff and guardians. Information tables will be set up at various locations in the municipality. In addition, several buildings in Skövde will be lit up in orange as a symbol of the fight against violence.
Several companies in Skövde are getting involved, and on November 25, many of them will also be participating digitally in the municipality's training initiative on the theme of threats and violence - an important step in spreading knowledge and increasing involvement.
- Violence against women and girls is one of our major social problems. To bring about change, we need to work together to draw attention to the issue, raise awareness and actively work against violence in all its forms," says Jennifer.
Together we can make a difference - as employers, employees and fellow human beings - for a "Skövde free from violence"
